Prairieville is in Ascension Parish and is one of the best places to live in Southern Louisiana. Living in Prairieville offers residents a suburban rural mix feel, and most residents own their homes. Many families and young professionals live in Prairieville, and residents lean towards conservative. Prairieville started as a quiet community with few people. In recent decades, Prairieville has benefited from migration out of Baton Rouge, with new residents drawn to the area by its high-performing public schools and low crime rate.

There is a new subdivision being built in Prairieville, off of Hwy 42. Homes are being built by Clayton Mitchell Custom Homes and they start at $389,900. The community will feature a community pool and cabana area. The subdivision is close to Airline Hwy, so it will be easy to access restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, and the interstate. The new development is in the Ascension Parish School District. According to the Ascension Parish School Board, the neighborhood will service Oak Grove Primary, Prairieville Middle and Dutchtown High School.
  • Great news Ascension Parish residents, you will soon have an option for daycare or overnight boarding for your four legged family members and just in time for summer vacations! Lucky Dog Lodge is slated to open the end of June and will provide a wide range of services, including web cams so you can check in on your pets and watch them play, as well as, different suite options to choose from when boarding your pups. They are conveniently located on Hwy 73 in between I-10 and Airline Hwy, a great location that should make pick up and drop off a breeze whether you live in Geismar, Gonzales, or Prairieville. I'm looking forward to using their services and excited to see more options, as far as businesses, popping up around the area.
  • Giovanni, the owner manager of Fratelli's, goes out of his way to make your experience memorable and to prepare the food to help you adhere to your dietary requirements. Exceptionally delicious, homemade Italian food at its best...right here in Prairieville!
  • Izzo's Illegal Burritos will be opening near the LeBlanc's Frais Marche on Airline Hwy in the fall of 2014. To say I am excited is an understatement! The food is fantastic and fast. I love sitting on one of their patios and eating a big salad or plate of amazing nachos!
  • Prairieville was ranked number two in a study performed in 2013 as a booming suburb. Quality of the schools as well as employment opportunities and housing were taken into account. I absolutely love Prairieville and loved living there! The amenities are growing every day and the proximity to Baton Rouge and New Orleans is great for commuting in either direction. Home values seem to grow every year, so if you are looking for a solid real estate investment, Prairieville is the place to be!

Sammy's has a wide variety of seafood dishes that will surely delight their patrons. The boiled crawfish is a very popular menu item and you will know it when you walk in the door and smell the seasonings as they prepare them. It is a casual, family friendly atmosphere with a menu from seafood to steaks. Sammy's is a great place for the sports enthusiast to watch the many large TV's on the walls as you dine. They also have a large meeting room area that can be catered for those special events.

The old timers in Baton Rouge all used to gather at Frank's Restaurant for breakfast and conversation. Frank's has been known for their famous biscuits and hot coffee. As Prairieville was expanding so did the owners of Frank's. They are located on Airline Hwy in Prairieville and feature a wide menu from breakfast to dinner. A great place for home style dining.
