This PJ's on LA 21 just got a new look! The service, food, and coffee were great - and the staff very helpful. Its a great place to stop for a visit with a friend or grab lunch and to catch up on some work. It is near the St. Tammany Hospital and easy to get to from Hwy 190.

Its also really convenient if you live in one of the nearby neighborhoods such as Timber Branch, Maison Du Lac and Flowering Estates.

Lola in Covington is one of my favorite places to stop in for lunch. Their daily specials are perfect portions and nothing short of delectable. Lola is currently working on renovating an old railroad car so that families can further enjoy the experience this restaurant offers with every meal.

Hwy 21 north and south of I-12 is experiencing a growth spurt after opening all four lanes to St. Tammany Hospital. New shopping strips are either under construction or in the planning stages to bring residents in Covington additional shops, restaurants and other services. Convenient area for nearby residents and quick access for those in Mandeville, Madisonville, Goodbee and Abita is making this area very attractive for buyers. If you have not been in this area lately, come and check the progress.
  • Voted America's #1 Sports Bar by ESPN! Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar is in the process of being built in the River Chase shopping area of Covington. The Covington location will be one of the largest it has ever built, and will feature a roof top bar and an "upper deck" area where you can watch your favorite teams play while enjoying the incredible food and drinks Walk-On's has to offer! Walk-On's is a great place to eat and features a great menu. The "Made from Scratch" kitchen prepares and cooks fresh food, which is why you'll love eating at Walk-Ons!

What a great place for pizza! I love the Holy Shiitake! They have anything from the Skinny Shroom menu with meals under 600 calories to a Beer Club that you get to win prizes for drinking. Happy hour is Monday thru Friday 2:00-6:30 pm. Enjoy 1/2 off appetizers and all drinks at the bar.
  • If you adore Old Covington ambiance, you will feel right at home in some of the newer neighborhood communities only minutes away. There are gated neighborhoods available with all the amenities of subdivision lifestyle. You will feel right at home immediately. The convenience of location is the absolute best-- just moments away from Old Covington and Abita Springs; a short drive to Madisonville and the Old Mandeville area on Lake Pontchartrain. It's all right here!

The City of Covington, established in 1813, is an enchanting Southern town settled around three streams. A mixed blend of boutiques, craftsmanship exhibitions, distinguished shops and restaurants line the downtown lanes. Extraordinary consideration has been taken to guarantee the preservation of Covington's memorable homes and structures while likewise considering the modernization of its base. The downtown, architecturally significant area is home to numerous turn-of-the-century houses encompassed by antiquated oaks and South Louisiana's rich, green foliage. Covington is an aesthetic city, rich with amusement and recreational exercises.
  • Del Porto Restaurant in Covington is a must for a truly outstanding dining experience. It is my number one go to spot for a luxurious lunch and dinner is equally wonderful. You can enjoy fabulous Italian dishes and superb service. Worth every penny!
  • The Northshore has it all! I've had this recertification twice and highly recommend this facility which is comprehensive and thorough. You'll love it!
  • St. Tammany Parish is a haven for classic automobile collectors. Several times a year you can stumble upon a classic car show on a beautiful Saturday night. It is a place where people from all walks of life gather and look back at the rich and wonderful history that is American car culture. I personally got to sit in a first generation Corvette, and a 50's era Cadillac. I love classic cars and Covington has plenty to see.

Tchefuncta Country Club is one of the premier country clubs in western St.Tammany Parish, and is the only one that is member-owned. Although it has been in existence since 1961, the old buildings were razed and the magnificent new facilities were completed in 2008.

There is a manicured regulation 18-hole golf course, a separate tennis clubhouse with multiple courts that are wired for sound and have lighting that allows playing after dark, and a six lane swimming pool with a beautiful cabana. In addition, there is a fitness center inside the main clubhouse that is accessible at all hours. The club offers formal dining and a spacious bar for drinks and casual dining. For more information, check out the link below. It is located within the boundaries of Tchefuncta Club Estates, just off Highway 21 about one mile south of I-12.

A well-known landmark in Covington is called "The Knot House" or "The Twig House". It is located on private property, but it sits so close to the road that you see it as you drive by. Built nearly 100 years ago as a place for fern sales, it has withstood many hurricanes, high winds and falling tree limbs. It is constructed from the heart pine knots, the hardest and heartiest part of the pine tree. It makes me smile every time I pass it.
  • I just had dinner at the new Chilis and the green chili enchiladas were outstanding!
While waiting for your meal, you can now enjoy the latest in restaurant technology - each table has its own entertainment tablet with loads of games.
And, you can even use it to reorder drinks, pay your check, and get a printout of your receipt - awesome!

The Chimes has an awesome atmosphere. Boudin balls and the spinach and artichoke dip are my two favorite appetizers, but you can't go wrong with their raw oysters either. The beer selection is huge. A great place to kick back, enjoy with friends, and watch a sports event. Take a walk outside on the back patio that leads you down to a creek for a nice scenery.

If you are looking for personal service from a locally owned pharmacy, stop at Braswell Drugs, which is across the street from St.Tammany Parish Hospital. There are always two or more pharmacists on duty, so you usually don't have to wait too long for your prescription to be filled. In addition to having reasonable prices for the medicines, they have an extensive gift selection. You can find baby gifts, Radko Christmas ornaments, specialty lotions, balloons, and lots of gift items with a "New Orleans" or "LSU" motif. Their new store (right next door) will be open by the summertime! I can't wait!

Zea was originally started by a guy from Covington and has expanded to become a chain. But don't be put off that it is a chain - the food is always fresh and delicious. The tuna sashimi stack is my favorite dish! My friends love the almond chicken salad and the ribs! Lots of atmosphere and excellent service always!
  • This is located on Florida Street, just one block off Lee Lane. It is my "go-to" place for affordable custom jewelry. David (yes - there is a real David Pierson on the premises) has a lot of custom silver necklaces and earrings plus beautiful antique estate jewelry. I particularly like the fact that I can always find something there without busting my budget!
  • The season has kicked off the final Friday of each month for the block party. Live music and food from many different restaurants, classic cars, and plenty of fun and relaxation for all to enjoy.
  • If you are traveling up Hwy 190 through Covington, do not miss The Clayton House Marketplace. The Clayton House Marketplace is a consignment facility where local furniture makers and artists can rent stalls to show off their products. If you want one of a kind furniture or decor or even antique jewelry, this is the place to find it and much more.

If you happen to find something you like, but just aren't quite sure, you can even commission the artist or builder to make you a custom piece. Nothing like a piece of custom furniture to place in your new home in the Covington, Mandeville or Madisonville area for the same price or even less than a big pre-fab box store. I love the small town charm this place offers!
