Manchac Area Insight

  • Middendorfs has a great atmosphere filled with all things nautical and southern! The Italian oysters, BBQ oysters, and thin fried catfish were delicious! Go by car or boat. There is also a sand play area for the kiddos as well as outside seating for nice days.
  • Middendorf's will be hosting Oktoberfest starting October 2, 2019 through November 7, 2019. Every Wednesday and Thursday Middendorf's will offer authentic German food and music. Be sure and check out this once a year event!

Middendorf's is a landmark famous for their thin fried catfish. The restaurant is located off I-55 in Manchac, 40 miles northwest of New Orleans. The perfect family outing with water views. The restaurant offers seafood at it's best with a large variety on the menu including gumbo and turtle soup. The restaurant also features a children's menu.

Middendorf's is located 40 miles northwest of New Orleans near Manchac. It was established in 1934 by a German couple named Josie & Louis Middendorf's. People will travel miles and miles to try it's famous fried fish and the Cajun menu.
  • Wildlife, rivers and lakes. Manchac is located just minutes from Hammond and Ponchatoula. Take a swamp tour, see nature at its best. Manchac is known for fishing and duck hunting. This is one of my favorite places nearby to go on the boat or an afternoon at Middendorf's restaurant for their famous thin fried catfish. Catch the sunset on the lake, just beautiful.
