My family and close friends have been going to Paintball Command since age 10! Starting at a young age, we loved to hold birthday parties here and that quickly developed into an obsession. Over the years, we've spent hundred/thousands of hours playing at this location. Charlie and his wife have been excellent with everything. His son is taking the reins, but has been more than capable. He was out there himself as we were growing up. You'll occasionally see us out there enjoying a little escape.

Growing up less than five miles away from Pelican Park really set my stand for parks. It has been the spot for YEARS and for all ages! In my youth, sports teams were always a thing. Basketball and soccer were my go-to, but they do have volleyball, football, and even baseball/softball. Even today, I find myself going to open gym, using the disc golf course, using the dog park, and shooting the soccer ball on occasion. The skate park is a nice addition, but you won't find me rolling the dice there! To those new to the area who are looking to put their kids into team sports, I don't know if there is a better opportunity than Pelican Park.

In addition to the Flagship beers they also do weekly specialty flavors. Worth the stop if you are passing through or looking for a regular hang out!

Love going out Friday night? Love music and fine dining? Maybe it is time for Lake House in Mandeville! It has the best location and it is the only fine dining lake front restaurant in Mandeville. It is open for dinner on Thursday and Friday, and on Sunday for brunch. The music on Friday is very pleasant! Even though they change their menu constantly, the choices might look a bit limited. Must haves are the Ahi Tuna and Green Tomato with crab meat and shrimp.Their main business is catering and special events.

Are you looking for a Spanish restaurant? We've got one! At least by its name: Pardo's. The family of the owner comes from Spain. He named the restaurant after his grandmother's last name, Pardo. She was from Spain. It's a very popular fine dining restaurant that is located between Covington and Madisonville. My favorite dish is the seasonal Foie Gras!

North Shore is known for its excellent restaurants. Each one is unique and offers its own special atmosphere, menu and ambiance. Nuvolari's is one of them. Just a few blocks from the lake in historic Old Mandeville. Its beautiful woodwork reminds me of classical settings, and makes me feel I am in Europe. I love their oysters with spinach and brie! Have to have it!
  • Cafe Lynn - I love this place! This is probably the most French restaurant on the North Shore, with the exception of La Provence restaurant. The ambiance and colors are calm, the atmosphere is pleasant and friendly, and the cuisine is excellent! My favorite dishes include: Escargot in Garlic Sauce and Filet with Brandy and Peppercorn Green Sauce.

  • After building his famous Fontainebleau Plantation, Bernard de Marigny de Mandeville acquired adjoining land along Lake Pontchartrain's shore. In 1834 the property was subdivided to become the town called Mandeville. It was an immediate success, with a casino and hotel. Creole families summered on the lakefront. Visitors were transported by steamboat from New Orleans. Town plans noted that space between the lake and the streets fronting the lake would never be obstructed in any manner. Such incredible foresight preserved the shoreline's natural beauty for the delight of future generations.

Mandeville exemplifies the Northshore lifestyle. When you think of living on Lake Pontchartrain's north shore, what comes to mind? If you're unsure, here's what to expect - a dreamy shoreline outlined by stately southern mansions on one side and mercurial Lake Pontchartrain on the other. (This is where New Orleans residents came in the old days to "cool off" from the city heat). The lake view is ever-changing moment by moment, the play of light and atmosphere constantly redefining the spectacle. Majestic mossy oaks along the drive are another highlight, providing a touch of timely tradition.

Just beyond those stately mansions you find the Old Mandeville neighborhoods...charmingly preserved for future generations with a sense of community. Within the neighborhoods are churches, shops and restaurants. There are renovated older homes, plus new homes built in keeping with historical architecture. Fishing, boating, dining, shopping, lakeshore walks, biking, festivals, markets, galleries...everything with its special Northshore flavor is in the design of the Mandeville Northshore lifestyle. Come take a sunset stroll and you'll be spellbound by Old Mandeville.
  • The Mandeville Lakefront is the oldest area of the city. Originally this area was a summer haven for well-to-do people from New Orleans looking for a break from the city. Today the Mandeville Lakefront is home to some of the city's best recognized bars and restaurants.

The path that winds alongside Lake Pontchartrain is perfect for running, biking, or jogging. Looking for something a little more relaxing? Sit down under one of the ancient Live Oak trees that line the Mandeville Lakefront. If you haven't had a chance to check out this prime spot for relaxation and inspiration, you are really missing out.

Every Saturday morning, rain or shine, the Community Market opens at the Mandeville Trailhead, located on Lafitte Street, in the heart of Old Mandeville. It is free and open to the public, and is full of vendors with homemade gifts, clothing and jewelry, artisans showing off their prized works, delicious foods prepared by area residents, and entertainment for the family.

The Trailhead also has fountains that sprout out of the ground for the little ones to play in (on warm days), and a snowball stand where there are bicycles for rent both by the hour and by the day. These activities combined make a lovely Saturday in a friendly community very enjoyable!

Enjoyed my evening gathered with over 6,000 other New Orleans Saints fans in the stands of Mandeville High School's football stadium as we watched the team practice for the upcoming season. What better way to spend a Wednesday evening than with family, friends, and neighbors all supporting our favorite team, The New Orleans Saints!
