The Claiborne community is named after Claiborne School, a very popular elementary school in the Ouachita Parish School District. Students from Claiborne Elementary will later attend West Ridge Middle School and then West Monroe High School.

Claiborne is a thriving community with grocery stores, restaurants, fast food, veterinarians, pet groomers, and medical facilities such as Sanson Medical. Sanson Medical is currently adding to their services by building a surgery center which is set to open later this year in 2014.

The growth in the Claiborne community is made evident by the fact that the State of LA highway department is set to five lane the existing Arkansas Road over the next couple of years. Arkansas Road will be a five lane highway with turnabouts at Good Hope Road, Warren Drive and Forty Oaks Farm Road. An extra exit/entrance to the Interstate 20, Downing Pines, was added a few years ago to help accommodate the traffic created by the extensive growth of families and businesses that have moved to the area.
