If you're looking for a great family-friendly outing this weekend, ditch the big city life and come on over to Minden. Just 20 minutes or so east of Shreveport/Bossier. Contestants, 18 years or older, who think they cook the best BBQ in the area will be fired up to show off their culinary skills. There will be a Jr. Cook Off for ages 12-17 and they will grill hamburgers and hot dogs. Categories judged with be brisket, chicken and ribs.

All contestants will be setup to go by early Friday and the coals will begin to glow on Friday evening, though you'll have to salivate until the tasting and judging on Saturday. First through third place grand prizes will be awarded in each category, in addition to the Best in Show Award.
This incredible event will be topped off by some amazingly talented vendors and talented musicians. What a great place to call home.

As everyone knows, Thursday, February 4th at 12:00 p.m. is the kick off of the famous Minden St. Jude Auction. Minden gives more money per capita to St. Jude than any other city in the United States. Wow!

Saturday, February 6th is the annual chili cook-off. People travel from all over the United States to participate in the chili-cook off. If you have no plans for Saturday, February 6th, take a trip over to the Minden Civic Center to taste test all the different chili that has been cooked up for this special event! While you are there, check out all of the items for sale, become a Partner In Hope, join in on the raffles, or just donate to a good cause. There will be a kids fun time featuring face painting, a bounce house, and kids crafts. Let's support a great cause!
