The Buggy Town Playground was built in 2008 through private donations and fundraising, and is located in the city park. It is surrounded by mature trees, benches and a couple of small pavilions. This Mardi Gras and Cajun themed playground is open to the public at no cost. The playground features swings, slides, a climbing wall, bridge, and much more. Its a great place to host a birthday party, family gathering, or just enjoy the great outdoors.

Rural St. Landry Parish is dotted with executive estates such as this, along with crops of sugar cane, rice and crawfish, not to mention farms with cattle and horses. There's plenty of elbow room for those who love the country with fresh air and wide open spaces. It's not uncommon to come across coyotes and wild pigs in the more remote fields, where burros are often kept as a "coyote repellant". Come home to country in rural St. Landry Parish, Louisiana!

I love visiting the quaint community of Church Point in rural Acadia Parish, located adjacent to the St. Landry Parish line. Around 1770, the first settlers built their homes on the banks of the Bayou Plaquemine Brulee. Prior to the settlers arrival, the area was frequented by the semi-nomadic Attakapas and Opelousas Indians who used the area for their hunting and fishing grounds. The now self-proclaimed Buggy Capital of the World, Church Point hosts an annual Buggy Festival in early June where one can witness the joie de vivre and Cajun/Creole customs first hand. L'aissez les bon temps roulez!
